British/Jamaican and Swedish born artist Shenie Fogo makes her Lyrical Lemonade debut with a stunning debut album titled Meet Me In My Dreams. Entirely produced by iSHi, all nine songs beautifully capture Fogo’s serene vocals and her boundless creative capabilities. Very much Snoh Aalegra esque in terms of atmosphere, the mellow synthetic beats seamlessly align with Shenie’s fluid, decorative lyrics. MadeinTYO is the only feature on the LP, which allows listeners to fully grasp Fogo’s artistry and potential. From start to finish, the entire project aqueously flows for a truly immersive listening experience, and each track contains its own unique personality. “Explain,” however, is my personal favorite, as Shenie Fogo gracefully sings over a drum-led melody. There’s also an epic electric guitar solo toward the end, and the sampled words in French provide an elegant closure. Conceptually there’s plenty of romance, dreamy contemplation, and a hint of mystery, as Fogo speaks from a reflective and levelheaded perspective. Overall, Meet Me In My Dreams is one of the most intriguing albums I’ve heard all year, and as far as Shenie Fogo goes, this debut of hers can undoubtedly take her to the moon. Listen to the LP
