Exclusive Interview: Rising Philly Artist Saynave

What is your name and what city do you rep?
My name is Saynave. I rep Philly

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
I just released a song called Speak the Language. The song plays to my hobbies in languages. I speak a couple of languages on the hook. But mostly the song is just fun. The video plays to my love for aesthetics.

What is unique about you and your music?
I find that my brand serves a niche market in hip hop. Not only does my music resonate with your standard rap fan but my music speaks black professionals and the middle class too. My brand has been described as the roc nation brunch of hip hop. I try to target the same audience that watches Issa Rae’s insecure.

What shaped your music?
A general love for the craft

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I never had an “ah ha” moment but as i got better the more i tried

What type of music do you listen to?
Rap, Psychedelic Rock

What inspires you to write music?
Normally when I have something to say. I find it hard to rap about nothing

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
Learn languages, listen to podcasts, workout.

Happiness to you is…
Financial Freedom. Health for the Family

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
The music industry is pretty awful and filled with scams. Talent is secondary

New video just dropped for my single Speak the Language. I am looking to put a new EP out later in the year. and hopefully a second video

Where do we find you music / music projects?
