Detroit producer Da Firestarter introduces us to a litany of talented featured artists on his new EP Start the Fire Up. While he might be a new name to add to your playlists, Da Firestarter crafts a sound that only the most experienced producers in the game can execute flawlessly. Proof of such are standout songs Chasing the Goal and The Jit.
Fellow Detroit collaborator Big Haze ensures the goal of a hot song with the type of lyrics and delivery that is sure to attract the ears of hardcore rap fans. Chasing the Goal sets the tone for what to expect for the duration of the project. Haze appears on most of the songs and from the first listen, it’s really easy to hear why. His delivery is a mix of “street talk bars” with witty punchlines and a playful execution presented effortlessly.
The Jit is driven by piano chords, complex drums, and high-hats. The rap vocals of Big Haze and Tweeze share verses about the same party experience from two different perspectives. While a rap record, the song contains subtle elements of production used in house and techno recordings. The Jit will surely have people on their Percolator dance steps ala Cajmere.
The late Kookii Krazyy blesses the track Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Wyse Guy J’Wan and Antonio Kagney rounds out the features list with their amazing contributions to what will be a sure-fire hit released by Da Firestarter.
