Heartbreak Homie drops off refreshing project ‘Social Butterfly’

There are some artists that simply cannot be boxed in to one sound, style, or motif- and Chicago standout Heartbreak Homie could certainly be considered one of these. She demonstrates this strongly with her latest project, Social Butterfly, a vibrant, rich collection of songs that draws from hip-hop, R&B, house, and more. On Social Butterfly, Heartbreak keeps listeners on their toes with a dynamic tracklisting, with each track introducing a unique flavor. “Monarch Moon”, with VerySpecialEd, introduces the project with a shimmering, house-laced groove and infectious, sleek vocals. Next, “Off With They Head” throws in a curveball with a raw, hard-hitting trap banger. “Indeed”, featuring Morgan Gold and Jefe312, introduces an acoustic element with breezy guitars underlying the vocalists’ smooth vocals. “Tough Love” presents a highlight with its blend of engaging sonics and focused, sharp songwriting that has melodies lingering in the listener’s mind long after the song is complete.

The self proclaimed popstar prides herself on her writing skills, song making skills, ability to change her cadence and flows at the drop of the dime. As a true hip-hop lover, Heartbreak mostly delivers a melodic rap but always manages to sing and give her fans a ballad, deep R&B cut or pop hit.
